FAQs

Have a question or concern? Worried about knowing your Dungeons from your Dragons? Check out our FAQs below, which cover questions for all of our experiences

  • What is a TTRPG?
TTRPG stands for Table Top Role-Playing Game. These are games such as Dungeons and Dragons, but there are many other systems out there. You know that feeling when you're watching a film, and you're yelling at the hero on screen what to do? Well, TTRPG's make that possible. These games in essence are a group of people creating a story together. You each have a character who you control, you decide what they do and say and think, and the other players interact and respond to each others actions. There are rules and often dice, but also a lot of conversation. It's a mix of a board game and an improv session.
  • What is Dungeons and Dragons?
Dungeons and Dragons is one of the most popular Tabletop Role-Playing Games. It's a system that's been used in lots of media, you might recognise it from TV shows like Stranger Things and Community. You choose an ancestry and a class for your character - you might be an elven druid, or a gnome fighter, or maybe a human rogue. You roll dice to decide your stats, like your strength and your wisdom. Once you've chosen your character, it's up to the Dungeon Master (or DM) to craft an adventure for you! They will describe the world to you, play all the other characters that exist in the game (known as non-playable characters or NPC's for short), and craft a story for you to experience. But, you are in charge of your character - you decide where they go and what they do, and all your choices affect the story you're existing in. Campaigns can be one off's, or be adventures that span across years! It's a fully flexible, fully adaptable system that can be utilised in any way that best suits its group of players.
  • What if I'm not good at acting?
You don't need to be an actor to enjoy our events. For some people, they love speaking in character and using accents, but for others their character is just their way of navigating the story. You can simply describe what your character does and says without ever needing to 'perform', and your Game Master will be there to support you. We are here to facilitate you and your experience, however that looks for you - you are in control. Don't want to do a lot of talking? That's no problem, you can decide your character is the strong and silent type, using actions more than words. It can be strange at first playing as a character, but you'll be surprised how quickly things feel more comfortable.
  • I don't like fantasy themed things such as Lord of the Rings.
That's no problem at all! A lot of people hear 'Dungeons and Dragons' and immediately think of wizards and goblins and hobbits. Our games are fully customisable, and we can create an adventure in whatever setting and style you'd enjoy best. You could be spies in a modern day setting, or possibly detectives in a 1920s noir style game. Whatever theme you would most enjoy, we can create for you.
  • Isn't Dungeons and Dragon's a game for kids?
Dungeons and Dragons can certainly be played by children, but there is no age limit. The adventures are hand crafted by us and are written for adults. According to Wizards of the Coast (the company who created D&D), 60% of players are over 25 years old. In fact there are some people who have been playing in the same campaign with friends for over 30 years. The flexibility and fun these games offer spans the ages so that anyone can benefit from them. Plus, we make sure our adventures are tailored perfectly for our clients in advance.
  • I've never played and don't know how it works.
Before any session, the Game Master will go over the basics with you of how to play. The great thing about these games is that the only person who needs to know exactly how it works is the Game Master - the players simply need to know how to navigate their character sheet, and the rest is up to the GM to facilitate. We will make sure you are comfortable with your character prior to playing, and during the session you can always ask the GM any questions you might have. Even people who have never even heard of Dungeons and Dragons before have told us how much they enjoyed the game and how supported they felt in finding their feet.
  • I have a topic I'm not comfortable exploring/experiencing.
We know that what some folks enjoy, other's don't. We also know that everyone has different life experiences, and make sure that all of our sessions are suitable for all the people participating. Before any event, the Game Master will send out a document outlining the safety tools that we will be using during the event, and also giving all participants an opportunity to outline any fears/limits/topics they aren't comfortable with, and these will be taken seriously and treated with respect. Also any information participants give to the Game Master will be kept in confidence. Then, on the day of the event, the Game Master will clearly outline the safety tools they will be using during the session and regularly check in with the players to ensure everyone is feeling comfortable and getting the most out of the experience. If there is any specifics queries you have about content of the adventures or topics we touch on, don't hesitate to get in touch with us and we can discuss in further detail with you.
  • What do we need to provide? Do we need to find a venue?
All we need from you is your team, and a room with a table and chairs, in a space where we can play music. We will bring everything else required for the adventure. Some clients have us join them in a conference room in their office, some clients prefer to hire a space elsewhere to fully separate from their usual working space - we leave that decision up to you. Wherever you will be most comfortable, we can run your adventure.
